Felting

Erika took a brief felting workshop with Adriane Nicolaisen at Pacific Textile Arts in 2023.  The process beings with raw wool, which is soaked in water  and applied over a template to provide a rough outline of the desired object (hat, shoulder bag, etc).  Extended, vigorous rolling teases the individual fibers together, while shrinking them such that they lock permanently.  More complex techniques involve applying various splashes of differing colored wool bits and rolling them into the base layer.
