Kumihimo

Kumihimo -- meaning "gathered threads" -- is a traditional Japanese technique of braiding and cord-making, originally using silk. The decorations were historically used with kimonos and samurai armor. The technique involves interlacing bobbins of yarn using specialized miniature looms. The material can be, well, anything: paper, wool, string, ribbons .....  Erika is self-taught, and constantly experimenting.
